About this course

Practical Gen-AI (Claude) for Finance, Accounts and Audits is a hands-on course designed to help finance, accounting, and audit professionals apply Generative AI to real-world work, not just learn about AI concepts.

The course begins with prompt engineering specifically relevant to Finance, Accounts and Audit, helping participants learn how to provide context, be specific, iterate, reframe, challenge conclusions, use guardrails, and build detailed prompts. Participants will also explore Claude Skills, learning how effective prompt structures and best practices can be packaged and reused for recurring activities.

The course then moves into practical applications. Participants will work with Claude add-ins for Excel and PowerPoint and explore Claude Cowork in depth to work across multiple files and automate activities such as Month-End Close (MEC), reconciliations, and journal entries. They will also learn how an MEC Agent can take automation further.

Beyond automation, the course demonstrates how Claude can support analytical work including financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis.

A dedicated audit section focuses on identifying transactions that deserve attention. Participants will apply techniques such as Benford’s Law, ageing analysis, and sampling, including how GenAI can assist with sampling, an area many auditors find challenging. These techniques are also highly relevant for fraud risk analysis and investigations.

Most importantly, this is a practice-along course. Participants will work with the same files used in the demonstrations, enabling them to reproduce the analysis, experiment with prompts, and build confidence in applying Claude to their own Finance and Audit workflows.
