MCP (Model Context Protocol): One Server, End to End
On Udemy
About this course
This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.
This course follows one MCP server from the question that caused it to the day the team measured what it cost. Twelve lessons, in order, one server: going remote, the trust boundary that appears when it does, the review that caught a client's token about to be passed on to a system it was never issued for, and nineteen tools cut to six.
It explains MCP rather than building it with you. There is no repository to clone and no code typed while the video runs. What you get is understanding you can carry into a design review.
You came here with three things tangled together, and you are not confused because you are slow. You are confused because they overlap. Function calling is how a model asks for a function to be run. An API is how two programs that already know each other talk. MCP is the wire between an application that hosts a model and a separate server that offers tools, resources and prompts, so that one server can serve any host that speaks the protocol. All three end in something being called. They are not the same layer, and until you can say which is which out loud, every article you read will feel like it is about something slightly different.
Not for you if: you want to write a server today, you already run one in production, you want SDK walkthroughs, or you want a named company with audited figures. The full list is under "Who this course is for" below, and it is worth reading before you buy.
Every module opens with a short Key terms lecture, so no word arrives undefined; if you have read the specification and lost the thread, that is where the thread is handed back to you. Seven of the forty lectures are short exercises with a model answer, so you can check yourself, but the course does not pretend to be a build workshop.
Module 01, what MCP is and what it is not.
