Azure OpenAI and Generative AI: Build AI Assistants with GPT

About this course

Azure OpenAI & Generative AI: Build AI Assistants with GPT is a practical course designed to introduce learners to Azure OpenAI Service and the fundamentals of building AI-powered assistants using GPT and generative AI technologies. The course combines foundational concepts with hands-on activities to help participants understand how AI models can be deployed, configured, and integrated into applications.

The course begins with an introduction to generative AI, large language models, and Azure OpenAI Service. Learners will understand what Azure OpenAI offers, how it fits within the broader Azure AI ecosystem, and how organizations can use GPT-powered technologies for different business and application scenarios.

Please note, we have used AI-generated audio for this course to provide clear, consistent, and easy-to-follow narration throughout your learning journey.

Participants will then learn how to get started with Azure OpenAI through the Azure Portal and Microsoft Foundry. The course covers Azure subscriptions, resource groups, resource creation, and model deployment, giving learners a practical foundation for working with Azure-based AI services.

A major focus is placed on understanding and deploying AI models. Learners will explore GPT models along with text and multimodal models and understand how to select an appropriate model based on the requirements of a particular use case. The Azure OpenAI Chat Playground provides an environment for experimenting with models and understanding their capabilities.

The course also introduces prompt engineering, an essential skill for working effectively with generative AI. Participants will learn how system and user messages influence model behavior and how to write clear, effective prompts. They will also explore calling Azure OpenAI APIs with Postman and managing conversation context when interacting with AI models programmatically.
