AI literacy is now a workplace skill, and for many organisations in the EU it is also an expectation under Article 4 of the EU AI Act. This AI literacy course shows you how to use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini well at work: prompt engineering with a simple framework, checking what comes back, and staying inside your AI use policy and the law. It is written in plain English for every role, and no technical background is needed.

Jurisdictional scope: the regulatory sections of this course cover the United Kingdom and the European Union, meaning UK data protection law and the EU AI Act. They do not cover United States federal or state AI law or other jurisdictions. AI regulation differs between jurisdictions and changes quickly, so treat this course as background for a conversation with your own compliance function rather than a substitute for it.

You start with how AI language models actually work and why they get things wrong in predictable ways. You then learn the RCTF prompting framework (Role, Context, Task, Format), how to diagnose a weak prompt and fix it, and how to build a personal AI workflow for the tasks you repeat every week. Practical lectures cover research and summarisation, drafting and editing, data analysis, communication and decision support, each with the human review step that keeps you safe.

The governance section shows you how to read and apply your organisation's AI use policy and what you are personally accountable for. An optional Risk Extension for legal, compliance, privacy and HR roles covers EU AI Act high-risk systems, prohibited practices, Article 50 transparency and record keeping. The regulatory section explains the EU AI Act timeline, the UK approach, automated decision-making rights, GDPR and UK GDPR, and sector regulation.
